1 Peter 1:6-7 Faith Refined by Fire

1 Peter 1:6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,

Don’t be fixated on your pain; be focused on your joy.

1 Peter 1:7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire —may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

“Untested faith may be true faith, but it is sure to be small faith, and it is likely to remain little as long as it is without trials.” ~Charles Spurgeon

A faith refined by fire is more genuine, valuable and pure.

1 Peter 1:7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire— may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Job 23:10 “He knows the way I take; when he has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.”

1 Peter 1:3-5 Living Hope, Precious and Certain

1 Peter:1:3
You have a living hope; it has been raised up with Jesus.

1 Peter 1:4
You have a precious hope; it is a heavenly inheritance that’s waiting for you.

1 Peter 1:5
You have a certain hope; it is salvation, guaranteed.

John 10:27-30
Colossians 3:3

Romans 8:24-25

How should we be living differently now since we know we have salvation/an inheritance waiting for us?

1 Peter 1:1-2 Strangers In Danger

1 Peter 1:1 1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who are [elect exiles of the Dispersion] in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

1 Peter 1:2 [according to the foreknowledge of God the Father,] [in the sanctification of the Spirit,] [for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:] [May grace and peace be multiplied to you.]

Key Idea: Our instability in this world should be normal.

Pray for God’s grace and peace to be fully realized in us.
